Building Representatives | PFT400-2024

Building Representatives

Building Reps meet periodically throughout the school year with a special annual kickoff meeting in August that really sets the stage for the year ahead (plus-PIES!).

Our annual kick-off Building Rep meeting was held virtually again in September of 2021–we look forward to being back in the same room soon! In the meantime…

The Building Representative (BR) is the essential glue that helps to bind our union closer together at the school building level. This is a position of great opportunity, responsibility and satisfaction within the PFT, because our BR’s are the live conduit between Union leadership and our diverse membership.

BR’s represent the interests of the members in their building by:

  • Successfully helping to enforce the contract in place
  • Organizing the building around the issues we face as union members
  • Sharing and disseminate communications and vital news to building members

Acting (when necessary) as in-person advocates for building members who may have differences with building administration.

Building Reps Don’t Go It Alone!

Each new rep receives an in-person workshop from the PFT that capably on-boards each representative.
